Fire Alarm

Residents aged 55 and over (some vulnerable) have been left without a fully-integrated fire alarm since the 21st June 2021.

In 2019 GreenSquare were downgraded to a ‘G2’ grading for governance by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).

RSH’s notice said that GreenSquare “had failed to implement a large number of high-priority actions arising from fire risk assessments”.

It added: “Some of these urgent actions had been outstanding for a number of months, and the issue affected a significant number of tenants, including potentially vulnerable tenants.”

As reported by Inside Housing 1st March 2019

Today’s regulatory judgement said that an in-depth assessment (IDA) found “a clear lack of leadership around health and safety issues” at GreenSquare.

With Howard Toplis being asked to resign before this downgrading GreenSquare brought in fresh talent to regain control and restore faith. This led to GreenSquare being upgraded in October 2020.

"I am really proud of what's been achieved at GreenSquare over the past year or so – and this judgement acknowledges that achievement.

"We have made significant improvements to a range of key internal systems and processes around risk management and board and committee reporting. And we have made some excellent new appointments to our board and executive.

"This has not only addressed the issues highlighted last year but also given us an exceptionally strong platform from which to deliver our ambitious customer-focused corporate plan."

Worrying then that since June 2021 the residents of Lucas & Remy Place have been without a fully integrated fire alarm system.
